This area of our website is designated to addiction recovery.
My son, Jordyn, battled addiction for several years. As a mother, the only thing I wanted for my child was to see him recover. Jordyn spent over half of his adult life behind bars due to drug related charges. He hit his “rock bottom” when his best friend was murdered in October of 2020, and he was unable to attend the funeral because of his incarceration. He was released from jail in December of 2020 and knew he had to make some serious changes in his life and started taking the proper steps to do so. He studied hard to get his driver’s license and applied for several jobs. He received his license on March 16, 2021. Two days later he was hired by Indiana Packers and scheduled to start on March 22nd. He was so excited, and I was so very proud of him. On March 21, 2021, eighteen days after Jordyn’s 21st birthday, I got the knock on the door that every mother fears. Jordyn had been in an automobile accident earlier that morning. It was fatal.
Jordyn had a huge heart and loved his family and friends. He was always willing to give a helping hand, even to a stranger in need. He had expressed to many people that he had hoped that one day he would be able to beat addiction so that he could help others beat it as well. I believe that had he been given more time, he would have accomplished that goal. Because he was unable to carry out his plan, I have decided to raise money in Jordyn's name to use to help addicts who are ready for recovery but may not be able to afford the help that they need
Jordyn didn’t get his second chance, but through continuing Jordyn’s Journey we hope to give others who, like Jordyn, want to recover the opportunity to do so.
In order to make a difference, we rely on the support of generous businesses and individuals in our community. We are diligently working on our third annual fundraising event, Jordyn’s Ride for Recovery, which is hosted by the Whiskey & Wine Saloon. This year’s ride will take place on August 19th. We are currently looking for sponsors for our event, as well as items to raffle off at the event. Sponsorship cost is a minimum $75.00 (cash) donation, and we will add your name/business name to the back of our event shirts as well as recognize you at the event. Sponsors also receive a free event t-shirt. Sponsorship money and information will need to be turned in by August 1, 2023, in order to ensure your name is on the back of the event t-shirts. Raffle items can include gift certificates, gift baskets, gift cards, or any other item or service of value that can be raffled. I would love to have all the raffle items collected no later than August 17th, 2023.
Over the last two years, we have been able to raise a little over $9,000 at our events. We have helped seven people get into recovery homes by providing sponsorships on their behalf and we are building interest on the remaining money as we continue to research the best way to move forward with Jordyn’s Journey in hopes to help many more people for years to come.
